DeVee Dietz M.S.Ed., Director
DeVee brings her passion for teaching and her love for preserving the democratic process to serve as the director of the K-12 civic and character education programs at the Chiesman Center. DeVee earned a master of science degree in education from Southwest Minnesota State University and a bachelor of science degree in education from South Dakota State University. As an educator, she has taught at many grade levels and in different schools and towns throughout South Dakota and Minnesota, including middle school, high school, alternative school, and as a college adjunct associate professor. DeVee has had extensive training in Project Citizen attending the weeklong PC Regional Institute, weeklong Rural Schools and Communities Institute, National State Coordinators Conferences, organizing and hosting the South Dakota State Showcase, and the National Conference for State Legislators with the National Project Citizen Showcase. DeVee has a variety of experience in reviewing, writing and implementation of curriculum at the elementary, middle, high school and college level. DeVee believes in a democracy where we have rights and privileges. Many people take this for granted and most do not take advantage of the rights they have simply because they are not informed. She encourages everyone to take a part in preparing our youth to be civically engaged.
