The South Dakota Project Citizen State Showcase is the opportunity for students to have their work evaluated on a formal basis. The format is exactly as described on the curriculum page but at the State Showcase, class scores are ranked by level of achievement.  The class portfolio with the highest level of achievement in the Portfolio Evaluation section will be sent to the Project Citizen National Showcase Finals.

The 2011 South Dakota Project Citizen Regional Showcase was held on February 15, 2011 at the Black Hills State University-Student Union in Spearfish.  Highest Levels of Achievement:

  1. Spearfish Middle School, 6th Grade
    Teacher: Mrs. Kathy Wolff

  2. Spearfish Middle School, 7th Grade

The 2011 South Dakota Project Citizen State Showcase was held on March 10, 2011 at the King’s Inn & Conference Center  in Pierre, SD. It was held in conjunction with Civic Education Day at the Capitol. Upper Elementary and Middle School portfolios were displayed in the Capitol Rotunda on March 9th.  Highest Levels of Achievement:

  1. Wall Middle School, 8th Grade
    Teacher: Ms. Stephanie Williams
    Title: Prairie Invaders - Nuisance or Need

  2. Sioux Falls Whittier Middle School, 8th Grade
    Teacher: Ms. Ann Robertson
    Title: Catch the Dream: Fulfilling the Dream Through Graduation

  3. Sioux Falls Axtell Park Middle School, 8th Grade
    Teacher: Ms. Janet Fleming-Martin
    Title: Inaji (Stop) Native American Drug & Alcohol Wakan Heja (Sacred Children)
